The Mercedes Benz GLK is a luxury compact crossover exposed in 2009 as a 2010 model. For the first time, it is launched in North America at the Beijing Auto Show as a rival of the Audi Q5.
First Generation (2009-Present)
The Mercedes Benz GLK was showcased during 2008, developed by Bremen. The design of this car is heavily influenced by the Mercedes Benz C-Class. For the first time, the GLK was introduced at Detroit in the form of the Mercedes-Benz Vision.
The Mercedes Benz GLK has a choice of four different engines; they are:
• 2996 cc V6 to deliver 228 hp (171 kW)
• 2.2 L diesel I4-liter engine that delivers 170 PS (125 kW; 168 hp)
• 3.0 L diesel V6 to churn out 224 PS (165 kW; 221 hp) and
• 3498 cc V6 that renders 268 hp (201 kW)

The appearance enhancements include aluminum roof rails and 20-inch wheels. Other choices are rear and front packing sensors, leather upholstery, xenon headlights, running boards, heated front seats, a rear-seat entertainment system, an iPod interface, and dual front-headrest-installed displays.
Performance and Power-Trains
The 2010 Mercedes GLK350 is using a 3.5-liter V6 engine that is capable of delivering
• 258 pound-feet of torque and
• 268 hp of power.
The engine uses a 7-speed automatic transmission and it contains standard sport, comfort, and manual settings. It has a standard rear-wheel drive with an optional all-wheel drive. In case of performance, the car can go from 0 to 60 mph in only 7.2 seconds and estimated fuel efficiency is 21 mpg on highways, and 16 mpg in city premises.

Coming to the safety, for best passenger protection, it is equipped with a comprehensive restraint system. The GLK-Class offers a highly efficient basement for the passenger protection system.
